The Nigeria Police Force, in a significant show of international collaboration, has successfully repatriated a high-profile Chinese fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, to China.
The operation was carried out through the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, in partnership with Interpol NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.
Mr. Dai Qisheng was a wanted gang leader in Guizhou Province, China, for his role in leading violent organised crimes. He fled China in 2024 after an arrest warrant was issued but was tracked and apprehended in Abuja by Interpol NCB operatives on August 8, 2025.
He was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement made available, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, affirmed the Force’s dedication to strengthening international partnerships and intelligence-sharing to combat global crime.
He stated that the successful arrest and repatriation of Dai Qisheng sends a clear message to criminals worldwide that “the Federal Republic of Nigeria will not be a hiding place for fugitives.”
