Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), in Ondo state, have called -off their four months old strike.
A statement issued yesterday by its chairman, Femi Ogunode, in Akure, stated that the union decided to suspend its strike after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was reached with the state government.

Ogunode said the MoU was reached “at a final meeting between the government representatives” in Akure, which had in attendance, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede.
Although, the statement didn’t give further conditions on the MOU reached between the union and the State government neither does it stipulated pending agitation.
He directed through the statement that all judiciary workers would now return to their respective posts and resume their duties beginning from next week on Monday.

It would be recalled that the union has been on strike since the 5th of January 2015, agitating for the implementation of financial autonomy for its members from the government.
As a result of the strike, law courts in the State had been under lock and key, thereby paralysing the judiciary’s activities while innocent citizens were unjustly arrested by Police and thrown into a jail cell.
