It was a tragic weekend at Oba-ile community in Akure north local government area of Ondo state, as a middle-aged man, Mr Glory Jato, at Bethel Estate, lost his life to flood and

it continues to ravage communities in the area.

The landlord association said the man who was said to be a federal government worker, was coming from work when he was swept away by flood.

Confirming the incident, assistant secretary of  Landlord Association of Bethel Estate, Oba Ile, Pastor Gbenga Ojuloge, Sunday said the incident was very painful.

Ojuloge said the community needed government intervention to help dredge the water channel to prevent future occurrence of the incident.

Several communities suffered from severe flooding over the weekend in Akure, Ondo state capital and environs as many access roads were cut off due to rainfall that started Friday and lasted more than 24 hours.

Ojuloge said the water had turned to death- trap that always take lives every year  and properties and residents were no longer safe from the constant threat of the river.
