What could be regarded as Governor Rochas Okorocha’s political strategy for his 2015 ambition was unveiled, last Thursday, during the All Progressives Congress(APC) rally for Owerri Federal constituency(made up of three local government areas of Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West).
In the said rally, those who have political ambition for Senate, House of Representatives, House of Assembly, Local Government chairmanship and councillorship elections were also unveiled. And Okorocha seized the opportunity afforded by the gathering to test their popularity among APC faithful.
Although he did not make a categorical statement on his political destination in 2015,Okorocha’s “body” or “mouth” language suggested that he would take active part in the APC Presidential primary, if it did not favour him, would run back to Imo state to seek re-election as governor.
To underscore his interest for re-election, he did exactly what he did in 2011, when he asked those interested in his ambition to indicate by bringing out the sum of N100. When they complied, he gave them a condition that “unless you assure me that you will not vote for Ararume, Ihedioha, Christy (i.e. Chris Anyanwu) and PDP.”
Okorocha, who also urged Imo people to cast their votes for APC, took time out to comment on last month’s Ekiti state govenorship election which brought in PDP’s Ayo Fayose. He made it clear that it was out of sympathy that Ekiti people voted in Fayose because they did not like the manner in which he was impeached in his first tenure as governor during the administration of ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo.
