NSE: Equity market loses N69bn

Investment in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday returned to negative trend, shedding N69 billion. Specifically, Market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.51 per cent to N13.414 trillion from N13.483 trillion reported the previous day. 

Also the NSE All Share Index depreciated by 141.98 basis points to 27527.40 points from 27669.38 points traded on Monday. Investors exchanged 170.722 million shares worth N2.262 billion in 3614 deals against 280.695 million shares cost N1.409 billion exchanged hands in 3314 deals.

A breakdown of the trading activitues for the day showed that Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) led gainers table, growing by N0.45 kobo to close at N13.45 kobo, Lafarge Wapco followed with a gain of N0.20 kobo to close at N14.50 kobo, May and Baker Nigeria Plc gained N0.10 kobo to close at N2.40 kobo, Access Bank Plc appreciated by N0.10 kobo to close at N6.20 kobo, United Capital added by N0.08 kobo to close at N2.14 kobo. 

On the contrary, Betaglass recorded the highest loss during the day, shedding N6.60 kobo to close at N59.75 kobo, Dangote Cement industry trailed with a loss of N2.00 to close at N168.00, Forte Oil sheds

N1.15 kobo to close at N18.30 kobo, Cadbury Nigeria Plc fell by N1.10 kobo to close at N10.30 kobo while Dangote Flour Nigeria Plc down by N0.35 kobo to close at N20.00.

The result showed that Access Bank Plc was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 65.127 million shares worth N409.152 million , Guaranty Trust Bank Plc followed with account of 17.620 million shares valued at N488.820 million, Dangote Flour Mill Nigeria Plc traded 16.159 million shares cost N324.548 million, Zenith Bank Plc traded 10.936 million shares cost N197.415 million, United Bank for Africa sold a total of 7.579 million shares valued at N45.160 million.
