NOC: Group alerts Nigerians on Gumel’s ‘false claims’

The United Sports Stakeholders (USS) has advised unsuspecting Nigerians to be wary of “the false claim of achievements” being peddled by the outgoing President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Engr. Habul Gumel.

USS emphatically said, “his perfidious claims are signs of a drowning man, clutching at every available straw.”

The group in a statement issued by it’s spokesman, Comrade Sylvanus Ofekun, said, “The dexterity of his fellow constants has made the indolent NOC President to result to lies telling;forgetting that the world has become a global village.

“Let it be clear, there is no Nigerian with voting right at the International Olympic Committee IOC. Engr. Gumel has no voting right due to his age. What is more troubling is the audacity of a man who by now, should have been a beacon of truth and transparency, but has now resulted to telling lies just to hold on to the office of NOC President in perpetuity.”

The statement added, “In the 16 years that Engr. Gumel has been at the helm of affairs of the NOC, no Nigerian has been nominated or appointed to any committee or commission of the IOC or ANOCA.

“We are by this statement urging the delegates at Thursday’s election not be swayed by the sugar coated tongue of a failed administrator who has destroyed the very foundation of sports in Nigeria.”
