The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Damaturu Bbanch, has inaugurated its newly elected executive members in Yobe state to govern the association for the period of two years.
The newly elected executive were Ahmed Khalil-Chairman, Ahmed Mohammed Buba -Vice Chairman, Abba Maina- Secretary, Ali Kadai- Assistant Secretary, Maryam Bamai- Treasurer, Abdul’Malik Isa- Financial Secretary, Idris Sulaiman -Welfare Officer, Mohammed Bukar-Publicity Secretary and Baba Nuhu as Provost respectively.
The inauguration ceremony which held in Damaturu, was administered by Barrister Abdullahi Samanja.
In his remarks, the election committee chairman, Barrister Khalifa Yahaya Bako, congratulated the new leadership, emphasising their democratic election as the executive of the NBA Damaturu branch.
He stated,“ Being elected as a leader of a professional association like the NBA the most charismatic profession on earth is a great honor. However, the task ahead may prove more challenging than you anticipate.”
The outgoing, chairman caretaker committee, NBA Damaturu branch, Altine Ibrahim, explained that the inauguration marked the conclusion of one chapter and the start of another.
She highlighted achievements during the committee’s tenure to include participation in NBA National Executive Council (NEC) meetings in Enugu and Akure, attendance at capacity building sessions within and outside Yobe state, successful convening of five well-attended congress meetings and peaceful elections to usher in the new executive committee among others.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected NBA chairman, Barrister Ahmed Khalil, pledged unwavering commitment to fostering unity within the branch.
“We must stand united in our commitment to the rule of law, justice, and the protection of human rights.It is only through unity that we can effectively fulfill our duty to the legal profession and the public we serve,” declared the newly sworn-in NBA chairman.
