Defending champion Francesco Bagnaia has retaken the lead in the MotoGP title standings after winning both races at the Austrian Grand Prix.
The Italian, 27, went into the weekend three points behind Jorge Martin, but won the sprint race on Saturday at the Red Bull Ring to level the points.
Then on Sunday, Ducati rider Bagnaia had a fight for the lead with Pramac’s Martin, 26, in the early stages of the main race.
However, Bagnaia held off his rival to win, and now holds a five-point advantage in the championship standings.
“The pace was incredible,” said Bagnaia, who has claimed the last two MotoGP championships.
“I think me and Jorge did something unbelievable in terms of speed and consistency. I am very happy. Three times in a row we are winning here [in Austria]. It is fantastic.”
