Mbam disowns fake Facebook account

Engr. Elias Mbam, Chairman-nominee of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and one time Minister of State Finance has disowned a fake Facebook account created by some unscrupulous elements.
The fictitious Facebook account bears his official portrait and correct profile which are already in the public domain given his public service records.
In a press statement personally signed by Mr Mbam and distributed to the press, he disclosed that out of sheer goodwill, the account has clocked about 130 friends from his numerous friends, relations, close associates and well-wishers.
The RMAFC Chairman-nominee emphasized that he does not own any Facebook account or operated one now or before. According to him, he wasn’t even aware of the existence of the fake account until some of his friends and associates drew his attention to it. “Apparently, this account must have been opened solely for criminal purposes including the defamation of my character and extortion of money and other fraudulent activities”.
Mbam further explained that the discovery of the fake account has smeared his good reputation and caused unquantifiable grief and embarrassment to him and his family as well as several friends and associates. He therefore enjoined friends, relations and well-wishers as well as the general public to disregard the fake account which he has nothing to do with. In other words, all those named as friends should as a matter of urgency unfriend/block this fraudster who impersonates me for personal aggrandizement. “I wish to sincerely apologize to all those who might have been embarrassed by this impostor who parades himself as ‘Elias Mbam’ on social media. In your own interest, please do not have anything to do with this fake account. Already, the matter has been reported to the relevant authorities for appropriate actions”.
