Man charged with reckless driving

A 21-year-old driver, Samuel James, was on Monday arraigned at a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for reckless driving.
James, who resides at Lugbe, was alleged to have driven recklessly and collided with a motorbike, damaged it and left the occupants with injuries.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Paul Anigbo, told the court that on April 18, at about 7.45 p.m., James drove his Volkswagen Golf on Pyakassa road, near Airport Road Abuja, in a reckless manner.

Anigbo told the court that following this, James’ car collided with the motorbike, which was moving on the opposite lane.
He said this injured the cyclist, one Abdullahi Yunusa, and his passenger.
The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened the Road Traffic Act.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

The prosecutor prayed the court to grant him a date to open his case against the accused.
The senior magistrate, Mrs Grace Adebayo, admitted him to bail for N100, 000 and two sureties while the sureties must be public servants within Abuja.
She also ordered that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the matter till June 6, for hearing. (NAN)
