Former Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku has challenged Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state to ensure proper utilisation of the N200 million monthly security vote being released in the state.
He made the challenged yesterday while speaking to newsmen in his residence at Akwanga in Akwanga local government area of the state.
Maku, who is also the National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and 2015 gubernatorial candidate in the state, alleged that despite withdrawing N200 million security vote monthly from the state’s coffers, the people were dying in the villages.
The former minister further alleged that it was so unfortunate the state has the huge security vote but could not manage the security challenges being faced in the state.
“I wish we have a different list of life that will see more in the area of promotion of peace, especially with the kind of money being withdrawn as security vote by Al-Makura in the state.”
Maku insisted that the crisis in the state were mostly instigated by the leaders to divert money, saying: “Whenever you see the masses killing each others , there is conspiracy at the top , hence the need for the people of the state to shun divide and rule principle and be united to elect credible leaders for good governance.”
He equally advised the governor to use the latest Paris Club fund to settle salaries and areas in the state, noting that people were dying of hunger and starvation.
