As part of efforts to ensure compliance to the lockdown order, the Zamfara state Police Command has arrested 101 vehicles for violating the lockdown order imposed on the state.
The state commissioner of police Usman Nagoggo who also doubles as the chairman of the state lockdown enforcement committee stated this Monday, while addressing Journalists.
According to him, the vehicles and occupants were arrested in connection with violation of lockdown order by the state government, expplaining that 72 vehicles were impounded at Yankara border while the remaining were impounded at Jibiya, Dimasa borders with Katsina and Sokoto respectively.
He said all the occupants of the seized vehicles have been charged to court and already been convicted according to the law, adding that all arrested vehicles were fumigated and the occupants were tested for COVID-19.
Meanwhile he said following the alarming rate of COVID-19 spread in Zamfara North Senatorial Zone, the state government had directed for the Closing of Shinlafi international market with immediate effect in orderto contain the spread of virus.
