LNRBDA empowers 6th batch of graduate youth

The Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority (LNRBDA), Ilorin, Monday, empowered 30 youth who graduated from its graduate youth /empowerment schemes.

Each of the graduates received a starter park and cash support.

The successful participants also received poultry feeds, 40- day old broiler chicks, drugs and cash support to start and nurture their poultry to maturity.

The graduate youth empowerment scheme of the federal government was designed to train Nigerian youth on how to be economically self reliant and thriving entrepreneurs in agribusiness.

Since the LNRBDA Ilorin pioneered the scheme in 2016, about 300 youth have been trained and equipped with a starter pack to venture into different aspects of agriculture practice .

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 6th batch participants of the scheme held at the premises of the LNRBDA in Ilorin, the authority’s managing director, Dr. Adeniyi Aremu, expressed delight that the authority was getting positive feedback from the graduates of the scheme.

He said the authority would, from its next graduation ceremony, invite successful beneficiaries of the scheme to give their living testimonies and mentor for would-be beneficiaries.

Aremu urged the beneficiaries of the scheme to make good use of the items for the intended purpose.
