The Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District of Niger state at the National Assembly, Senator David Umaru, has promised to give priority to girl-child education.
He said this was in effort to execute constituency projects, explaining that he had transformed his constituency office in Minna to a human development centre for the benefit of youths of the senatorial district.

Umaru stated this at the weekend while receiving in audience the executives of the National Association of Suleja Students, led by comrade Suleiman A Suleiman
He expressed the determination to grant scholarship to girls in the Niger East Senatorial District, “who are interested in education from secondary school to the university level, but could not afford it due to poverty or being orphaned.

He directed the association to scout for such underprivileged girls and liaise with officials of his constituency office for screening and documentation, adding that “I have already gave out scholarship to many students and we are a fund for it but we want it to be more organized this time around”.
The lawmaker described the conduct of extra moral classes by the association for students preparing for Senior Secondary Certificate Examination for NECO and WAEC in Suleja emirate as commendable and advised the leadership to synergize with his constituency office to fine tune and work out its sustainability.
“I am interested in the area of assistance the association said it has been rendering to students especially those preparing for external examinations. It is a noble programme that will help the students to have good basic qualification towards a solid educational foundation. I will therefore want to see how we can partner together and improve on what you are doing to make it more beneficial to the people”, he said.
Earlier, Suleiman had solicited for assistance in the completion of secretariat office in Suleja and also the sponsorship of students in tertiary institutions.
