Kwara govt, IPMAN sell kerosene for N50 per litre

Kwara state government in collaboration with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has commenced the sales of kerosene to consumers at the rate of 50 per litre.

The intervention which will provide 33,00 litres of the commodity to consumers who had been paying as much as N120 to N130 per litre, according to IPMAN, is to assist the NNPC in bringing kerosene at controlled price to Ilorin.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday in Ilorin, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Petroleum Monitoring, Alhaji Isiaka Amubioya, said “the state government was not happy at the sale of kerosene above the controlled price.”

He said: “Most of the petroleum stations sell at N120 or N130. With the collaboration with IPMAN chairman, his executives and NNPC, we were able to bring about 33,000 litres of kerosene to Ilorin which will be distributed to about three stations across the Ilorin metropolis at the rate of N50 per litre.”

According to him, state government intends to make it a continuous exercise to cushion the effect on the masses.
An ex-officio of IPMAN in Ilorin, Alhaji Okanlawon Olanrewaju, said the association was able to sell at controlled price of 50 because it got direct supply from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He said: “This is a direct intervention from NNPC to reach the marketers directly so that by the time we are giving product like this, it will be much easier for us to get it.
“The supply was the main product before, since NNPC has given us directly this way, we will be selling at the controlled price of N50 per litre. Before people were buying kerosene at about N110 per litre in Ilorin.”
