Kebbi NUJ seeks government partnership

Kebbi state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has organised a press week with a call on the state government and private individuals to partner with working journalists in the state in order to achieve the desired change.
Declaring the week open at the NUJ State Secretariat, state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Samaila Yombe Dabai, commended the union for the foresight in organising the brainstorming and entertaining activities in the state.
He noted that the idea would go a long way in promoting the activities as well as the performance of the state government in the area of provision of infrastructure and enhancement of the economic viability so far recorded by Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu led administration.
He called on the working journalists in the state and officials from the national secretariat to use the three-day period to see for themselves some of the development projects that has direct bearing on the lives of the citizens of kebbi state.
“Please use the week to avail yourselves with what we were able to achieve in just a little over two years,” he added.
Earlier, the state chairman of the NUJ, Alhaji Aliyu Jajirma , said his council has been working to promote and unite the working members in the state, saying the press week as first of its kind was part of activities to enhance the productivity of the profession in the state.
In his remarks, the state Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Musa Hassan Kalgo, thanked the state government for maintaining a harmonious working relationship with journalists and for allowing free flow of information of its activities.
