Authorities of Karu local government area in the neighbouring Nasarawa state may have bowed to the initial pressure mounted on them by stakeholders and elders of the Nyanya Gwandara community for the building of a hospital in the area.
Blueprint learnt, on good authority, that a youth activist in the area, Malam Abdulrauf Zakari haqs, stood firm in leading the vanguard of community elders and other stakeholders to fight for the reality of the project in their domain.
The community has been provoked that for a project which they struggled for, over decades would eventually be jettisoned by those they term as “cabals.”
When our correspondent visited the site, intensive work was on-going at the project site curtsy of the local council administration as sponsored by the World Bank.
“We are doing this not for showmanship but for posterity and our children sake. People should not take it as personal fight. The right thing has to be done for the people who are suffering,” one of the elders said.
