Kano LG polls: APC wins all 44 LG chairmanship, 484 councillorship seats seats

Returning officers for Saturday’s local government elections in Kano state yesterday released the results that showed the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning all the 44 local government chairmanship seats and the 484 councillorship seats.

Speaking on a radio programe a day to the election, former Kano state Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, and Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Aminu Wali, had threatened that they would instigate council chairmen that PDP would produce to drag the state government to court to explain what it did with the N225 billion it collected on their behalf in the last three years.
Shekarau in particular boasted that the PDP would win in Kano metropolis and half of all the 44 chairmanship seats “because Kano people have benefitted nothing from Kwankwaso’s three-year administration.”
Also, before and during the election, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was so confident that he called on wives of APC candidates to start addressing them as honourable chairmen or honourable councillors on the eve of the election “because the APC will clear all the seats.”

He said: “Let me also say that I never refer to those wearing bowler hats as evil people; the president is only complaining because he has comprehensively failed Nigerians. Peter Odili is my friend; Donald is my friend, Rotimi is my friend and all of them do wear bowler hats.

“Jonathan will know that PDP is dead the day he declares to run for 2015; over 200 of our girls were abducted and Jonathan is calling on America to come and rescue them; this is a big shame.”
Also before the election it was gathered that when the president called Kano PDP leaders to discuss the local government election and a former speaker of the House of Representatives, Gali Umar Na’abba, told him that the only person that could deliver Kano to any party was Kwankwaso “because he is in charge of Kano politics.”
Fagge local government chairman-elect, Alhaji Habibu Mai Lemo, told Blueprint that the election results would prove to Jonathan that those who collected his dollars were political contractors “that cannot deliver Kano to him in 2015.
