A group, Crusade for Greater Nigeria on Poverty Eradication and Social Justice, has called on the Federal Capital Territory six area council chairmen to support the minister, Nyesom Wike’s infrastructure drive.
President/ founder of the group, Prosper Okafo, said the recent flag- off of road construction and promise of additional ones by Wike shows the commitment of President Bola Tinubu through the minister to change the narrative in the territory.
He encouraged them to provide measures that will see to successful completion of the projects.
He said Wike’s approach to issues is an indication that the nation’s capital under his watch will be different if he is given the necessary support.
In a statement issued Sunday, the president urged the chairmen, residents and other stakeholders to always play their role in protecting the multiple projects embarked upon by the minister.
Okafor said irrespective of religious, political and ethnic groups, well being of Abuja residents should be paramount to everyone.
He stated further that since the creation of the Federal Capital Territor (FCT) no serious attention in area of infrastructure has been given to people at the rural level. But few days of Wike in office has proven that better things are coming for all the communities.
He said the residents in the past thought they were forgotten, but the current administration’s step has renewed hope of residents in the political office holders.
The statement reads: “FCT six area council chairmen should support the minister of FCT, Wike, to succeed in his infrastructure drive. All the road projects are sited in rural areas, it is the duty of the people to ensure that the contractor and workers do not have obstacles.
“It is an opportunity that Abuja people must take serious irrespective of political, religious and ethnic affiliations.”
