IG infected by stammering

Relatively, in Nigeria, the social media platforms were not beehives of combustible commentaries since last week. Nevertheless, EFCC acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu’s appearance on television with a President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election lapel hanging on his shirt caused quite a furore. Same was the President’s use of dollar notes to purchase discs that were being sold while he commissioned the EFCC’s new headquarters. Also, debates have been ragging about Abuja and Lagos. While some people believe Abuja is better a city, some believe otherwise. The best of the debates are yet to be seen. Then came IGP Idris Ibrahim Kpotum’s sham of a video clip on Wednesday afternoon. In the clip, the IGP who had no known case of stammering, suddenly became a chronic stammerer as he read from a prepared speech at an event. Here are some of the comments generated by the clip, which is perhaps the most viewed in Nigeria since last week::

Abubakar Adam Ibrahim
I am just confused. What exactly was the IGP trying to transmit? I mean, trying to say?

Gimba Kakanda
Nupe witches have finally caught up with the Inspector-General of Police, they really did him dirty. Stop sharing that video, he can actually read a speech, I believe so.

Ahmed Haruna Tswata
The IG video was doctored. I believe so.
Though, the IG is not an eloquent speaker but he is not as bad as potrayed in that video.

Inspector General of Police look around and he feel like to deal with the 2 Yoruba senators (Dino and Saraki). When Yoruba juju visited the IGP, he started speaking in tongues in public outing. I tried as much as possible not to break the heart of a Yoruba girl when I was still doing arabanko. Look at what Yoruba juju did to our precious IGP.

After critically reviewing the video it became obvious to me it was edited. He had issues reading the speech but the part was repeated severally.
Pay attention to his left hand. You will spot the repeated action. Maybe Saraki boys are at work.

Ibraheem Etsu Dawood
But why are Nigerians so wicked?
I was there live and his speech was smooth and( errorless)
What you are watching is mischievously and maliciously doctored in a video shop to downgrade and spuriously defame the person of the Inspector General of Police.
But trust me, the Police will soon parade those behind this mischief and defamation.

To me IG is doing the right thing, because this is the only way we can colonise England in return. Period.

I believe we have all watched the trending show of shame being displayed by the Inspector General of Police in Kano State? Just Imagine a whole inspector General of Police of a country who cannot read already prepared speech fluently? In fact, Despite the assistance of his aide, he finds it difficult to correct himself. This means it was not a mistake. He doesn’t know what he’s reading. The IGP turn the official event to a comedy show where the audience and invited guests laughed and laughed until their hips threatened to dislocate from their joint. .
Meanwhile, It is on record that the Current IGP was appointed by President Buhari. Today’s event has further confirmed that Buhari and incompetency are synonymously attached.
In a nutshell, we now know the reason why the IGP deliberately declined to appear before the senate house in order to avoid public disgrace.
May God help this country.

He should have just thrown away the sheaf of papers and continued to speak off-head. And afterwards he should fire the gaddem speech-writer!

Idris was reportedly caught on video stuttering to pronounce ‘transmission’ and kept repeating it. He said: “I mean, transmission, I mean effort, that the transmission cooperation to transmission, I mean transmission to have effect, ehm, apprehend, I mean, apprehensive towards the recommendation, recommended formation effective and effect, I mean, apprehensive at the transmission of…and transmission and transmission for the effective in the police command.”
“All effective the transmission, other transmission, I can state without contradiction that I have commissioned what.
“Over transmission of, over transmission of, over all kidnapping, armed robbery and other heinous crimes, I mean, ehm, commission transmission, recommendation transmission.”
Me: I don’t believe IGP. Idris could be these honest to display such a show of illiteracy. No, if am sleeping, someone should just wake me up.

Mazi Nwonwu
Having watched it several times yesterday and again this morning. My view now is that the audio of the IGP’s ‘transmission’ video was most likely doctored.
There is an audio loop that sought to highlight a couple of mistakes he made in the speech to make it befuddling.
I think the IG needs to release the entire video.
Because if this is real it either means someone needs to rush and see his doctor. This isn’t okay in any way. I didn’t find it funny at all. It’s too troubling for laughter.

Did IGP Idris have a record of reading or giving speeches in the past without flaws? Did Idris flawlessly express himself during the Senate confirmation hearing after he was appointed IGP by the President? If yes, then there is every possibility that the current viral video of his floundering speech was doctored to deceive the gullible and the credulous. Fake videos or fake news gain traction rapidly because sensational news is more fashionable than unvarnished truth. However, if I were the Police spokesman, I would have released the previous speeches delivered by Idris at public functions to prove that the current viral video was fabricated for the purpose of mischief. More importantly, if the public has no access to the original video, you can’t blame those who continue to believe the allegedly doctored viral video.

Having watched the IGP Idris speech video, I can only conclude that he had a brain block. What caused it I cannot tell, since I lack his medical history. But I suspect one of three possibilities: Severe emotional stress, a non-motor seizure, or transient global amnesia.
He is certainly not dyslexic, after all, he has read public speeches flawlessly in the past. And from available evidence, the video was not doctored. I advise the IGP to see an experienced neurologist or psychiatrist, who should also watch the video.
