How 583 died of cholera in 11 months –  NCDC 

Latest epidemiological report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) says 583 persons died of cholera between last January and November.

While 33 people died of cholera in November alone, 23,550 people were infected from January to November 2022.

The report says 10 states accounted for 95 per cent of the cumulative cases of the disease in the country.

They are: Borno (12,459), Yobe (1,888), Katsina (1,632), Gombe (1,407), Taraba (1,142), Kano (1,131), Cross River (649), Bauchi (649), Zamfara (630), and Jigawa (417).

NCDC said: “Thirty-two states and FCT have reported suspected cholera cases in 2022.

“These are Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ekiti, FCT, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
