Hajj: Last batch of Jigawa pilgrims off to Saudi Arabia

In continuation of the airlift of intending pilgrims in the country, the second and the last batch of 343 prospective pilgrims from Jigawa state took off from Dutse International airport to Saudi Arabia Saturday.


According to our correspondent who witnessed their departure report that the screening exercise was conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner both at the hajj camp and Dutse International Airport.


However, the remaining intending pilgrims who were from the nine local governments of Roni, Yankwashi, Mallam Madori, kaugama and hadejia respecyively.


Others are Birniwa, Guri, Kirikasamma, Kazaure and those that paid their hajj fare through the headquaters of the board in Dutse as well as management staff of the jigawa state pilgrims welfare board.


In his farewell speech to the intending pilgrims at the airport before their departure, the state governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar urged the Pilgrims to pray for peace and progress of the state and the country in general while at the holy land.


Represented by the Executive secretary of the jigawa state pilgrims welfare board, Alhaji Sani Alhassan Muhammad, the governor also called on the pilgrims to engage themselves into prayers and abide by the laid down rules of the Saudi authorities.


On their part, the Pilgrims also expressed their satisfaction to the security agencies which include the Nigeria police, Department of Security Service, Civil Defence, NDLEA, Immigration and Customs for the smooth screening exercise at the camp and the airport before their departure.


Each pilgrim were given food and assorted drinks at the airport before the commencement of the screening exercise.


It could be recalled that NAHCON had allocated one thousand four hundred and seventy two seats to jigawa state for the twenty nineteen hajj exercise and 893 are expected to perform the 2019 Hajj.
