Guinness leads losers table as market sheds N5bn

Guinness Nigeria Plc yesterday led losers table, shedding N8.90 kobo to close at N184.00. Presco Plc followed with a loss of N1.77 kobo to close at N33.75 kobo while Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), NCR and PZ industries fell by N0.74 kobo, N0.67 kobo and N0.50 kobo respectively to close at N16.26 kobo, N12.83 kobo and N26.00.
On the contrary, Nestle Nigeria Plc recorded the highest gain for the day, appreciating by N11.00 to N994.00, Forte Oil trailed with a gain of N6.50 kobo to 220.00 while Cap Plc advanced by N3.30 kobo to close at N42.30 kobo. Other companies recorded price appreciation were Mobil Oil and Nigerian Breweries which grew by N3.25 kobo and N1.05 kobo respectively to N169.25 kobo and N170.05 kobo.
The trading result showed that market capitalisation of listed equities went down by N5 billion  from N12.915 trillion traded on Wednesday to N12.910 trillion. Also the Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index (ASI) dropped by 14.90 basis points to 39098.72 points from 39113. 63 point recorded the previous day.
Trading results showed that investors bought 304.380 million shares worth N3.102 billion in 4693 deals against  193.242 million shares valued at  N2.663 billion in 4302 deals.  Financial Service sector led the activities trading 238.630 million shares worth N2.108 billion in 2678 deals while banking sub-sector exchange 180.822 million shares valued at N1.877 billion in 1932 deals.
An analysis of the investment indicated that Diamond Bank recorded highest volume of activities, trading 58.232 million shares worth N383.810 million in 170 deals, Zenith International Bank followed with account of 38.534 million shares valued at N873.087 million in 423 deals while Custodian and Allied Insurance sold 22.100 million shares worth N88.387 million.
Access Bank traded 18.053 million shares worth N155.258 million in 306 deals and Sterling Bank sold 18.016 million shares cost N41.822 million in 159 deals.
