The Class of 98 of the Government Secondary School (GSS) Ilorin has begun mobilisation of members across the country and in the Diaspora to contribute to the development of their alma matter.
Established in 1914, and the oldest secondary school in old northern Nigeria, GSS Ilorin has produced great Nigerians who have excelled in their chosen careers.
Rising from its webinar held on March 5, 2023, the old boys agreed to pull resources together with a view to giving back to their alma matter, which they left 25 years ago.
The virtual meeting was also attended by Club 98 old boys members in Diaspora, including those in USA, Sound City amongst others.
To this end, the Class 98 has named 12 committees to organise series of events to mark its silver jubilee anniversary coming up later in December 2023.
Coordinator of the webinar, Dr Abdullah Badrudeen, tasked members of the various committees to see the assignment as a call to service and urged them to work as a team to achieve the set goals.
Dr Badrudeen reminded the old boys of the ‘can do spirit’ of their school days which he said had made many to excel in their chosen disciplines.
Badrudeen, who had also coordinated series of webinars, which culminated in the setting up of the committees, had assured the old boys that the re-union apart from bringing development to their alma matter, would also uplift individual members in their chosen careers.
