A coalition of groups under the auspices of ” Almajiri is also a child” has called on APC led administration of president Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency integrate the almajiris into the conventional school system.
The group stated this through its project manager Iliyasu Usman while lunching an advocacy campaign for the vulnerable children in the state attended by over 500 almajiris in Adamawa.
He expressed concerned over the alarming increased in the numbers of almajiris in the country especially in Northern Nigeria and asked the federal government to act fast in the overall interest of the country.
The project manager further noted that their decision to embarked on this campaign is borne out of the deteriorating security challenges in the country and the need for all hands to be on deck to halt the tide taking into consideration the continuous involvement of the Almajiris in violent extremism
According to him,the almajiris destute children have become an easy recruitment base of book haram insurgents and other forms of violence in the country and integrating them into school system will go along way to break the recruitment base of book haram insurgents.
