The White Elephant Social Movement (WESM), in collaboration with Connected Development (CODE), has launched a plan to distribute over one million books to school children to encourage learning among young people in Nigeria.

Unveiling the plan during a public dialogue organised as part of its activities to celebrate this year’s International Youth Day in Abuja, the group charged youth across the country to have dreams, be humbled, strive for a good name and serve humanity.

With the theme of this year’s event focusing on “Inter-generational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages,” the body’s message to young people is to concentrate on how to acquire the right knowledge and mind-set to continue to work and provide value and service to humanity.

They advised the youth to see themselves as part of the solution to the current challenges facing the country since the theme of this year’s programme talks about inter-generational solidarity.

The national coordinator, White Elephant Social Movement (WESM), Mr. Ismaila Babatunde, noted that the theme for this year’s Youth Day is timely because to achieve development in Nigeria, there is a need to leverage the full potential of all generations. He said it is time to work to address the gap existing among youth, the government, and older generations.
