The Arewa New Agenda, a pro Tinubu northern campaign group, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, towered heads and shoulders above all other presidential candidates, challenging them to showcase their mentes and achievements.
Convener of the group, Senator Ahmad Abubakar MoAllahyidi, while briefing newsmen on Friday in Abuja listed some of the personalities mentored by the former governor of Lagos state as well as some of his core achievements while in office as governor.
According to MoAllahyidi, in human capital development, Tinubu is a mentor to many people in Nigeria irrespective of tribe, ethnicity or religion- this mentorship was and still is (structured and un-structured).
The Arewa New Agenda said some of the personalities mentored by Tinubu who have excelled in their fields the Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, Senator Ahmed Lawan; President of the Senate, Femi Gbajabiamila Speaker of the House of Representatives His Excellency, Ogbeni AbdulRa’uf Aregbesola former Governor and current Minister of Interior.
Others, according to the group included Babatunde Raji Fashola former governor and serving Minister of Works and Housing, Babajide Sanwo-Olu Current Governor of Lagos state
His Excellency, Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola, former Governor of Osun State, Hon. Lai Mohammed, Current Minister of Information and Culture
Hon. James Faleke, member House of Representatives.
Some other named by the group were Hon Sunday Dare, current Minister of Youth & Sports Development, Mr. Ben Akabueze- current DG Budget office of the federation, Dr. Olorumbe Mamora current Minister of State Health.
The group further stated, “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu took on the gory sight of Lagos environment on assumption of office that was occasion by pollution from different sectors at that time; he set up the 40-year development plan which has been followed diligently over the years culminating in the on-going transformation of Lagos.
“Tinubu set up the mechanism for revenue generation that has moved Lagos from a 600 million naira economy to over 50 billion and counting.
“He engineered the Inner-city metro line project that is currently moving commuters within the metropolis
He frontally set to combat the situation by creating The Ministry of physical planning to combat flooding and coordinate waste management disposal.
“He floated the free medical policy for children below 18 and adults over 65 years with heavily subsidized drugs for others
He provided free eye care service with glasses for those who need them (Jigi Bola)
“He combated dreadful diseases, including tuberculosis by setting up clinics devoted to the disease and polio through immunization of millions of children.
“The provision of Lekki corridor as a fast-growing real estate is one of the wonders of urban renewal that has become a model in Nigeria producing 500 units of houses yearly.
“Under him, as governor of Lagos state he pioneered the development of modern water transportation and BRT.
“The independent power project was a trail blazing endeavor that contributed 270 megawatts into the national grid Economic development Internal revenue generation is the strongest base for sustainability of any State; as governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; set up the mechanism for revenue generation that has moved Lagos from a 600 million Naira economy to over 50 billion Naira and counting
In the area of ideological consistency, the group said “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu strength of political character stands out; he sticks to where his ideology takes him- he has always identified with progressive politics.
“His opponents swing with the tide; they drift as they current takes them, if it is rosy today in one party you find them there, as soon as it becomes hot, they leave and nest in the next area of comfort.
Psychology of service.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is on record as a person who sees service as a call to duty; he delegates and trust persons around him with responsibilities that enables them grow, strengthen their internal capacities to become assets to the nation”, he said.
