Gov Emmanuel to upgrade A’Ibom NYSC facilities

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has promised to upgrade facilities at the state orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corpse (NYSC).

Governor Emmanuel made the comment during the official opening and swearing-in ceremony of the 2019 batch ‘B’ stream 1 corps members, held at NYSC permanent orientation camp at Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai LGA, Akwa Ibom state.

The Governor assured the corps members of maximum security throughout their orientation exercise, admonishing them to refrain from cultism and other social vices which are capable of destroying their future.

“… I want to assure you that your security will continue to be in front burner

“… I implore you not to deviate from the right ethos by engaging in cultism, and other vices capable of ruining your future” he said.

Speaking through the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr Effiong Ekpenyong, the governor urged all the corp members to take advantage of the various Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneur Development (SAED) centers.

He said engaging in skill acquisition during the three weeks orientation exercise is a way of preparing them for the post service life challenges, adding that, “it would turn them from job seekers to employers of labour if they bring all seriousness to bear.

“let me reiterate that the SAED programme of tthe NYSC is designed to pprepare you for the post service life challenges.

“Accordingly, you will be exposed to various Skills set during your three month orientation exercise, I admonish you to take leverage on this opportunity and learn a skill, as it would transform you from job seekers to employers of labour

Also speaking, The State coordinator of NYSC, Julius Amuso said 2,094 corps members registered for the batch b orientation exercise, explaining that 1013 are male while 1081.

Amosun charged the corps members to conduct themselves within the dictate of law to avoid getting into trouble while in camp and after.
