Gombe seek Sunshine fall

Gombe United star Austin Ekpoma has exuded confidence that his side will leave Akure unscathed as they battle Sunshine Stars in the week 35 of the Nigeria Premier League today.
The Savannah Scorpions of Gombe are currently occupying 15th position on the log and need to get points on their trip to the sunshine state if they are to completely stay off the relegation murky water.
The Gombe penalty-kick specialist admitted that the tie at the Akure Township Stadium will be a difficult one, but sees his side stunning their host at the end of the encounter.
“We want to secure our place in the premier league and it’s important that we win our remaining matches if we have to achieve that.
“At this stage now anything can still happen because the points separating all teams are not much, hence the need for us to get something against the Akure Gunners,” he said, insisting luck was against them in the 1-1 draw they played with Giwa FC on Sunday at the Pantami Stadium.
“We had some opportunities to score, but we are lacked the killer punch.
“We know that in trying moments we have to fight for everything. That’s what we did – we played as a team, fought for every ball but the killer goal wasn’t there.
“We just have to continue to maintain the push and not get relegated at the end of the day.”
