‘Gaidam earmarks N2.1bn for capital projects

In its effort to take Yobe to a greater height, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam had approved more funds in the health care, education and electrification sectors.
This was made known to journalists by the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Alhaji Mala Musti after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by the state governor
According to the statement, variation request for the construction of pre-clinical buildings at the New College of Medical Sciences got N161,812,430.04, ratification for approval and construction of additional structures at same institution will cost N641,585,585.05 and N136,651,685.49, respectively.

Others are renovation of the Special Advisers office complex, ratification of approval for construction of 33KVA transmission line linking Babangida and Dapchi Phase I and II and also approval for electrification of Lantewa, Kaliari and Koromari towns at N59,987,654.61 and N309,434,970 respectively.
According to Mala Musti, construction of Earth Dyke at Magura (Garin Gada) will get N56,937,500, Variation of contract for reconstruction of 77KM Damaturu-Buni-Magza to Ric Rock Construction Company Ltd which the road has reached 60% completion got N529,702,240.

The commissioner went further that ratification of landscaping and beautification of the Government House and Governor’s office frontage will receive N91,859,292, provision of complete package of drilling of 8” API boreholes equipped with 8L/S pump and 25,000 gallons overhead tanks with fencing and 1.25km length of reticulation at General Hospitals, Geidam, Gashua and Potiskum got N83,101,732.
In order to ease transportation in the education sector, N116,610,000 was approved for the procurement of vehicles to Deputy Vice Chancellors, Bursar and students shuttle of the Yobe State University, the statement added.
