Fubara ‘sticks with suit’ against pro-Wike state assembly lawmakers

After agreement was reached following intervention by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signs abound that Rivers state governor Siminalayi Fubara is still bent on the suit instituted against the House of Assembly lawmakers loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom wike.

This is after the lawmakers reportedly kept their own side of the resolution by stepping down moves to impeach the governor.

Just as part of the resolutions directed Fubara and his team to withdraw all court cases instituted against the Rivers State House of Assembly, the resumed hearing of the suit brought against House before a State High Court sitting at Isiokpo, showed that Fubara’s counsel, D.O. Okoro, SAN, told the court that he does not have any instruction from his client to withdraw the matter.

Okoro was responding to an information brought before the court presided over by Justice O. Ben-Whyte by the counsel to the House of Assembly, Chief Ferdinand Orbih, SAN.

Orbih had informed the court that that he had the instruction of his clients to withdraw the matter from court as a result of the development arising from the agreement of the parties in this suit.

The court, after hearing from the duo, directed Fubara’s counsel to confer with his client with respect to the recent development as submitted by the defence counsel.

The case was later adjourned to January 31, 2024.
