Five dead, one injured in Osun auto crash

Five persons have lost their lives in a fatal accident along the Ife-Ilesa expressway, in Osun State.

The incident, which occurred around 10 am, involved two vehicles, one with registration number FKJ691HZ and the other unregistered.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, T. A. Sokunbi, confirmed the crash through Public Enlightenment Officer Agnes Ogungbemi. A female child and an adult, including three male adults died in the accident, Sokunbi said.

He also noted that a female adult who was injured in the accident, has been taken to the hospital.

Sokunbi explained the sole survivor’s circumstances, revealing that the only surviving woman had been travelling with her family and her house maid.

He urged drivers to avoid route violations and excessive speeding, which caused the crash.

The FRSC reported that the driver is in police custody and will face court charges. Additionally, a small bag containing jewellery, bags of clothes, and N508,900 in cash was handed over to the victims’ family members at the scene, in the presence of police from Edun-abon and the toll gate.
