Financial crisis: States may collapse in 3 months – Aliyu

States of the federation may collapse within three months unless the financial crisis facing the country resulting from crumbled oil prices is urgently resolved, Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger state, has said.
Aliyu stated this yesterday in Minna while receiving the Governing councils of the Federal Polytechnic Bida.
He said the country might not be broke but experts must do something about the economy and the situations of the states to meet up with their obligation.

The polytechnic’s governing council that had earlier informed the Governor of the planned Polytechnic games to be hosted by the school requesting for assistance.
But the governor said as much as the government would have loved to help the polytechnic, there was financial constraints.
He said a Forum like the games should be encouraged because it would bring people from different background together for more national cohesion but the state had no so many funds to assist as the government desired.
Aliyu said the state and the local government would combine and see what they would be able to do to assist the game to succeed.

Chairman of the governing board, Col. Theophilus Bamigboye, had earlier told the governor of the game to be hosted by the polytechnic and called on the state to redeem earlier pledges to the state.
