The federal government has partnered the Brazilian government to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in pharmaceutical, medical equipment, consumables, digital health, research collaboration and manpower exchange.
The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, stated this Tuesday at the 2nd session of the Nigeria – Brazil strategic dialogue mechanism held in Abuja.
Dr. Salako said the strategic dialogue mechanism provides the opportunities for significant framework to foster bilateral relations across these key domains to take advantage of notable competencies and advancements in healthcare infrastructure, universal health coverage, and biomedical research in the two countries.
He said Nigeria has a decentralised health system where authority and control over healthcare are distributed across different levels national, state and local governments.
He stated further that the government of Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to universal health coverage to ensure that all Nigerians have access to the full range of quality health services they need, where they need them, without any financial hardship.
