FCT Area Council election adjudged peaceful

The chairmanship election in Kwali and kuje has been adjudged to be peaceful by electorates and residents of the area.

Chairman of Kwali area council, Joseph Shazin expressing his satisfaction in the conduct of the chairmanship election, after casting his vote  at Kwali ( II) central in Science Primary School at about 9: 00am,described it as a step up from what happened during the presidential and national assembly elections.

” The elections in Kwali are generally peaceful. It’s a step up from the presidential and national assembly elections, its peaceful” he said.

He added that security was on ground as the electorates were seen voting without any intimidation.

Elisabeth Gami, a resident who spoke with Blueprint explained that the conduct was peaceful and smooth

“I came in early at about 7:30 and i was able to vote shortly after election commenced, the atmosphere is peaceful “she said.

Also in Kuje, the electoral officer, Zainab Gbefwi, said the problem they had in some polling units was card reader malfunction, but was quickly rectified and soon after election went on smoothly.

The former chairman Kuje area council Danladi Etsu Zhin, after casting his vote at kagara primary school; thanked INEC officials for conducting a peaceful election. He said the only thing he noticed was that the turnout was poor compare to the presidential and National Assembly Election February 23, 2019.

As at the time of filing this report, result of the election from various wards is being awaited.
