A Roman Catholic owned University, Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI), Enugu state, has been recognised as number one university in Nigeria by Time Higher Education (THE).
Vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Christian Anieke, stated this at a press briefing in his office in Enugu.
Professor Anieke said the ranking was released three weeks ago, highlighting GOUNI’s excellence in those key areas. He stated that a favourable staff-to-student ratio is indicative of superior educational quality.
In addition to being ranked first in Nigeria for staff and student ratio, GOUNI also secured a place among the top ten private universities in the country in THE’s previous rankings.
Furthermore, it is recognised as one of the 200 best universities in Africa and consistently ranks within the top 40 to 50 universities in Nigeria. Among private institutions, GOUNI has maintained its position among the top five and claims the title of the leading university in the southeastern region of Nigeria.
Prof. Anieke attributed the accomplishments to the university’s dedication to excellence, hard work, and effective monitoring mechanisms designed to enhance performance for both faculty and students.
