Ella Helps Foundation launched, distributes cash, food Items to widows, disabled

A non-governmental organisation, Ella Helps Foundation, has been launched officially.

The foundation which cares for the widows and disabled, was launched in Suleja, Niger State with donation of cash, distributions of food items and clothes.

The Foundation, dubbed from Elakeche, meaning the Issues of lives, has existed for over two years, giving palliatives during the COVID-19 lockdown and helping the handicap and widows.

Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Engr. Emeka Okoro, hailed the founder, Christy Ella Adama, for putting smiles on the faces of the needy while noting that everyone needs help at different levels.

“All of us are beneficiaries of one help or the other. We need a stepping stone to reach somewhere. I also need help,” he said.

The Founder, Mrs Christy, said the motive for the Foundation was not to showcase wealth but to formalise what has been done in the past.

Mrs Christy said as a widow, who has experienced what it means to struggle and battle through life, she has developed passion for helping other widows and the needy in the society.

She, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of what they get and establish small scale businesses, “instead of sitting in their houses without any effort.”

Giving a brief about the Foundation, Pastor Dayo Akogun, said Ella Helps Foundation is a non- profit based organisation, concerned with helping the less privileged from all works of life.

He said Mrs Christy and her team were inspired to visit and donate food stuffs, financial support and cloth items to orphanage homes, widows and the physically challenged, regardless of religion and ethnicity in 2020, during the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown.

“Being a blessing did not stop during the COVID-19 outbreak, it continued the following year, when Ella and her team went out again within Suleja axis, helping an association of handicapped persons, the orphanage homes with a track record of over 150 beneficiaries being documented.

“In 2022, the body decided to do it in a bigger and more structured way, targeting and making sure they meet people at the point of their needs,” Pastor Akogun said.

Sharing his testimony, a beneficiary, Usman Muhammad, said, Ella foundation has helped them in their locality and many items have been donated to their members.
