Ekiti: Amotekun arrests 80-year-old Fatokun, 3 others for vandalising water facilities

An 80-year-old man, Pa Michael Fatokun, has been arrested by operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network, code-named Amotekun Corps, Ekiti State Command, for allegedly vandalising equipment belonging to Ekiti State Water Corporation in Okemesi-Ekiti.

Commandant of the corps, Brigadier Joe Komolafe (rtd) confirmed the arrest Wednesday while parading the suspects at command’s office in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital.

He also said a 60-year-old man, Oladosun Eniola, an indigene of Ikoro-Ekiti, was also arrested over alleged vandalisation of the corporation located in Okemesi-Ekiti.

The commandant araded three other suspects nabbed by the operatives over alleged breaking and entry of a residential house located at Tinuola area of Ado-Ekiti.

He said the operatives had at the early hour of the day received a distress call from a member of the public that some suspected vandals had broken into a residential house in the area and vandalised a pumping machine installed in one of the houses in the area.

The three suspects who are currently detained at the office of the command along the Old Iyin road, Ado-Ekiti, gave their names as Rufai Isiaka (26), Buhari Ibrahim (30) and Moniru Yahaya (30), apprehended by the residents of the area an later handed over to the operatives of the corps.

According to the commandant, 80-year-old Fatokun and the 60-year old Eniola were arrested by the operatives in Okemesi-Ekiti while vandalising several equipment belonging to the water corporation in the ancient community.

On various achievements made by the operatives in recent time, the Ekiti Amotekun commandant said the security outfit had tackled several criminal activities in the state.

He urged residents of the state not to hesitate in giving relevant information that would assist the corps in its intelligence and surveillance operations in stamping out criminal activities in the state.
