Edo: Policeman rescuing kidnapped Judge killed in gunfire

A police officer who was on a rescue mission to free kidnapped Area customary court president in Edo State has been reportedly killed during a shoot-out with the bandits.

Blueprint gathered that the slain policeman was among operatives in a joint operation with the military at a place called scorpion hill, inside Ugoneki forest, Uhunwode local government area of the state.

The state police spokesman, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the development described the slain policeman as gallant, adding that the kidnapped victim has been rescued.

The Court president, Aigbonoga Precious, was on her way to work in Igueben, when gunmen waylaid, and abducted her at Ugoneki on Monday.

A family source confirmed the rescue of the court president, but noted that she was shot by her abductors.

The source added that “she is now receiving treatment at a medical facility”.

The chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA) Benin Branch, Chief Nosa Francis Edo-Osagie, lauded the Police for its prompt intervention in the rescue of the victim.

Edo-Osagie also commiserated with the State Commissioner of Police,  Mohammed Adamu Dankwara, on the loss of his gallant officer. 

He prayed God to grant the family of the slain officer the fortitude to bear the loss.
