A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo state, Oronsaye Robert Uyi, has condemned the verbal assault on Governor Monday Okpebholo and Senator Adams Oshiomhole by the Special adviser on media to former governor, Godwin Obaseki, Crusoe Osagie.

In a statement issued by Uyi, he said that the comments by the former governor Obaseki’s attack dog did not hold water and cannot stop the State House of Assembly from pursuing the agenda of purging the local government councils of bad eggs.

He said it was disheartening to hear that the House of Assembly had carried out its statutory duty of overseeing the local government councils, only for the former governor to start pointing accusing fingers at the governor and Senator Oshiomhole for witch hunt.

“Osagie press statement circulated widely on the pages of major newspapers in Nigeria was an attempt to discredit the governor’s laudable policies and programs which has begun to yield fruits as people of the state are now relieved from the monstrous experiences of the immediate past administration in the state” he stated.

Oronsaye further stated that the people of state are now aware of Osagie’s propaganda targeted at Senator Oshiomhole in a bid to discredit national politics by saying he is instrumental to the house of Assembly decision to suspend the corrupt local government council chairmen.

“God has vindicated APC again as one of the chairmen in question has been impeached by the councillors over financial embezzlement.

“These councillors are all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are you now saying it is the APC that asked them to remove the council chairman elected on the same party platform?, No, because they are tired of the corruption weighing the council down”, he stated.
