Delta: Don Bosco Science Academy wins N10m at Selplat quiz competition

The Managing Director, Selplat West, Mr. Ayodele Oladunde has said the Selplat pearls quiz competition which began in 2012 has featured 1, 300 schools and 56, 000 students as Don Bosco Science Academy, Ukhun, Ekpoma, Edo state emerged winner of this year’s competition for secondary schools in Delta and Edo states.

The company’s helmsman stated this,Friday, at the Selplat pearls quiz competition in Asaba, Delta state.

Don Bosco Science Academy defeated Our Saviour Secondary School Sapele, Delta state by 62 – 48 points in the finals, which took place at Southend Event Centre, Asaba, Delta state.

The winner took home the N10 million first prize in addition to N100, 000 each for the participating students.

The runner up school got N5 million in addition to N75, 000 for each participating student.

While the third place contest, Hollywood International Secondary school, Asaba defeated Divine Providence Education Centre, Benin to clinch the third place and got N3 million and N50, 000 for each participating student.

Divine Providence Education Centre, however, got a consolation prize of N10, 000 for each participating student.

Managing Director, Seplat West, Mr Ayodele Olatunde noted that the idea of the competition was to reward academic excellence in host states and build spirit of resilience in the students because, according to him, it takes a lot of resilience to get to the finals of competitions such as Seplat PEARLs Quiz competition.

The state Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezenwu, also commended Seplat Energy for initiating and sustaining the PEARLs Quiz competition over the years.
