Dangoma House, donning green colour, have won the 2014 edition of the Inter-House Competition of the Government Secondary School, Bakin Kogi, Kaninkon, in Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state, which took place last weekend.
In a keenly contested competition, Dangoma House scored a total of 209 points to emerge winners, while Ambam House scored 209 to clinch the second position, beating Rafin Dadi House to the emerged place with 172 points.
Presenting the trophy to the captain of the winning house, the special guest of honour and the Tum Nikyob (Chief of Kaninkon), Malam Tanko Tete, applauded the school administration for organising the competition.
Represented by the district head of Bakin Kogi, Malam Bako Galadima, the royal father expressed delight over the performance of the students, urging them to sustain the tempo.
He charged the government to continue with the good programmes they had organised for the provision of quality education to the citizens of the state.
Earlier in his address, the zonal director of Kafanchan Educational Zonal Office, Mr. Joshua Yabayat, commended the principal, staff and the students for their impressive performance.
Represented by Mr. James B. Samson, he added that the school had the facilities to host inter-schools athletics competition at anytime because of what he saw on the ground, while reiterating government’s readiness to direct resources in revamping education in the state, he appealed to parents to encourage their wards in not only facing their studies, but to also participate in extra-curricular activities.
The principal of the school, Mr. Philip Maigida, thanked all the people that contributed to the success of the competition.
Maigida made a passionate appeal to the zonal director not to hesitate in proffering advice to the school on how to correct any mistake he discovered in the organisation of the competition for the future.
He noted with satisfaction that the performance of the students during the competition was an indication that they are doing well not only in the academic work, but also in the extra-curricular activities.
