Customs, NIPSS sign MoU to develop capacity and nation building

The Ag. Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi on Wednesday, formalized Memorandum of Understanding with National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, near Jos the Plateau state capital to strengthen capacity building.

Adeniyi along with his counterpart, Prof. Ayo Omotayo signed the MOU on Wednesday October 4, 2023 when the latter and his management team visited the former at Customs Headquarters Abuja.

The collaboration, is to improve the ability of Officers and Men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in area of skills, attitudes and structures needed to function effectively.

While speaking, the Ag. CGC expressed great enthusiasm for the collaboration and commended the Director General of the Institute, Prof. Ayo Omotayo for the rigorous steps taken in making the dream a reality.

He also lauded the legal team of both Nigeria Customs Service and the Institute for their rigorous activities in making the dream of partnership a realisable one.

Emphasizing the positivity this development will bring to the Service, Adeniyi restated his commitment to ensure the motive behind the MoU is achieved.

On his part, the Director-General of the Institute, Professor Ayo Omotayo tagged the collaboration ‘a new era of progress driven by both organisations working in tandem for the development of the nation’.

He said, “I’m happy to have this agreement signed by the Customs as it will reposition and make the Nigeria Customs Service to be more effective. I believe Customs has Men in the Service that will help achieve its mandate and there are lots of opportunities with this agreement. I believe both parties have lots to gain from this agreement.”
