COVID-19: NSCDC sensitises market women in Osun

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Wednesday, urged residents of Osun state to keep safe by ensuring compliance with the directives on National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

The corps took sensitisation to markets, explaining how to prevent further spread of the pandemic Coronavirus.

Speaking with our Correspondent at Akindeko market, Alekuwodo, Osogbo, the state Commandant of NSCDC, Commander Adeyinka Oguntuase, said the corps took the advance of the two days break declared by the state government to sensitised people on the pandemic disease.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Tuesday evening, declared another 14-days lockdown, advising residents to use Wednesday and Thursday to re-stock.

Oguntuase said he led his officers to demonstrate to market women how to keep social distancing and wash their hands.

He said, “we are complementing the efforts of the government. The two days break declared by Osun state government is meant for people to go to market and stock food for the next two weeks that will start soon.

“We are going to markets to sensitize residents of the state so that the buyers and sellers can keep distance, use nose cover and wash their hands as we are demonstrating here.

“There are some countries that would not have had the Corona so much if they had taken precaution. The rate at which people are dying in some advanced countries is alarming.

He said the precautions taken by the government in Nigeria has helped in reducing the spread of the disease, and needs to be complemented by people.
