Court sends ex-Edo gov candidate Ize-Iyamu, others to prison

A Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, the Edo state capital, has sent a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to prison. He was arraigned alongside others by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an eight-count charges of laundering the sum of N700 million.
Others sent to prison with him were a former deputy governor, Chief Dan Orbih, a former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Lucky Imasuen, Tony Azegbemi and Efe Anthony. Blueprint gathered that Justice P. I. Adjokwu ordered that they be remanded in prison after rejecting a plea by counsel to Ize-Iyamu, Charles Edosomwan, that they be kept in the custody of the anti-graft agency
