A corps member, Miss Yetunde Shukurat Idowu, a member of the 2014 batch B set in Kwara state, has been founded dead in Ilorin, the state capital.
She was found dead on Sunday night after she had gone to Shoprite on Saturday and did not return home.
The Lagos-based corps member was an indigene of Ogun state and lived at Tanke on University Road.
Blueprint gathered that her family had been contacted while her corpse was due to be released yesterday on the insistence of the family.
The late corps member served with the state broadcasting corporation, Radio Kwara, Ilorin.
Speaking with our correspondent, the police PPRO, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi, said: “We are still investigating; we cannot conclusively say it is a case of abduction or ritual killing because no part of the body was missing. It could be a case of a hit and run careless driver or an accident outrightly.
“I can’t confirm that she was raped because all the examinations conducted on her does not show any sign of rape and we are still investigating, but I cannot say exactly what happened.”
Asked whether she was given a lift, he said: “All these are guess work; nobody has volunteered any statement to us; if anybody has any information, maybe they should get to us.
“As far as we are concerned, it was a reported case of found dead with broken skull and bruises; for now I can’t tell you whether it was a case of whether rape, abduction or kidnapping.”
In his remarks, the NYSC PRO, Oladipo Morakinyo, said: “It is only the medical expert that can diagnose what actually kill her and this is beyond the scope of our scheme. The most important thing is that a corps member died and the NYSC has done the necessary thing that we are expected to do; we have contacted the family.”
