Complement govt’s efforts on security, Kogi people urged

The people of Central Senatorial district of Kogi state have been called upon to complement the efforts of the state government in providing adequate security which had eluded the area in the past.

 

Addressing members of the All Progressive Congress in Adavi local government area during a sallah gets together organised by the council’s administrator, Alhaji Ajoge Abu Enesi, the administrator averred that governor Yahaya Bello has done a lot in the area of security that requires the people to contribute their quota in order to nurture and sustain the feat.

 

Enesi, who said in the recent past kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities had almost taken over the state, noted that the proactive measures employed by Governor Bello were to rid the state of such vices.

 

He said: “In the past, nobody can organise an occasion either naming ceremony or wedding in the central senatorial district without seeking  permission from the so called area boys and even give them money to avoid been disrupted.

 

“But today nothing of such can happen in the district. Kidnapping and armed robbery became a daily affairs and n body can challenge them. Okene -Lokoja road also became armed robbers den, they robbed freely go on break and return to unleashed terror on travellers, today there are no more cases of armed robbery in the entire parts of the state.

 

“People can now sleep with their two eyes closed without fear of attack or sporadic gunshots by hoodlums; and to continue enjoying this feat, we have to contribute our quota by giving useful information to the security agents and be security-conscious at all times.”

 

Advising his fellow council administrators to diversify their sources of income in order to improve on their Internal Generated Revenue, Enesi disclosed that his local government had put in motion the establishment of farm centre “and revitalisation of the abandoned garri processing factories at Nagazi in Adavi to create jobs for the youth, as well as generating more revenue for the Council.”

 

In his goodwill message, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Arch. Abdulmumuni Okara, charged local government administrators in the state to be transparent and accountable in all their activities “so as to record achievements for the people of the grassroots.”
