Some coalition of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) accredited election observers have faulted the conduct of last Saturday’s off-cycle elections, where INEC declared Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) Governor Douye Diri as winner.

In a press statement in Yenagoa, the group, under the platform, Integrity and Transparency Monitors, spoke through its convener, Comrade Yesa Peter.

He said, “Bayelsa has eight local governments, the PDP manipulated results in five local governments which are her stronghold, Ekeremor Kolokuma/Opokuma, Ogbia, Yenagoa, and Sagbama. Before the collation of final results, the PDP candidate was leading with a margin of about 36,000 votes.

“It is instructive to note, all results were announced at the local government collation center, except those of the APC, which was taken to INEC headquarters in Yenagoa. And the moment results from Nembe, Brass and Southern Ijaw were announced, especially Southern Ijaw, we saw serious disparities from the IReV, and polling unit level results.”

The group, called on the INEC to, as a matter of equity, fairness and justice, order a review and a possible rerun in the affected local governments
