All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant and former chairman of Leadership Group, Mr Sam Nda-Isaiah, has expressed displeasure over what he called the government’s ineffectiveness to ensure the immediate release of the schoolgirls abducted in Chibok, Borno state, a month ago.

He challenged the Jonathan administration to “wake up to its responsibility” of protecting its citizenry and stop further embarrassment on the country.
In a press statement, Nda-Isaiah expressed shock and disbelief about the abduction of the girls and expressed sympathy to the families of the children and urged them to find solace in the fact that the mercy of God and the global outcry will surely go a long way to ensure release of the children.
Nda-Isaiah, who has been critical of the present administration’s approach to security of the citizens, also queried government’s effort on earlier and similar abduction cases where about 40 children were kidnapped four months ago while 100 students were also burnt alive at Federal Government Boys’ high school, Buni Yadi, among others.

“I am still in shock about how this horrendous evil could have happened, the second major attack on a school in four months. Yet my shock and distress can hardly compare to the anxiety, grief and pain borne by the families of the missing Chibok girls. It could only have been their dreams, hopes and aspirations for a better Nigeria that inspired them to stay in school, defying the odds” he said.

While urging for calm as the search of the missing girls continues, he however demands from the PDP-led administration, a report of all other killings, kidnappings and abduction of innocent school children since the Jonathan administration came to being.
He attributed corruption prevalent in the present administration as the reason for the helpless situation in the country.
