CAS urges personnel to maintain facilities

The Chief of the Air Staff , Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar urged Nigerian Air Force personnel to ensure adequate and sustain maintenance of various facilities in their barracks and units, in order to justify the enormous resource being expended on the service by government. The air chief gave the charge during the inauguration of the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force Institute of Safety, Kaduna He also charged them to meet the expectations of Nigerians by striving to combat the various security challenging facing the country, according to a statement by the NAF spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya. He said the inauguration of the institute was part of commitment of the NAF leadership to reposition the service into “a highly professional force for effective service delivery.”
“With the inauguration, the NAFIS is set to properly focus on the conduct of a more comprehensive and inclusive safety training for NAF personnel, sister Services, other security Services, ministries, departments and agencies of the 3 tiers of government as well as nongovernmental organizations, within and outside Nigeria,” he said. Adesanya said former Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), retired Air Vice Marshal Muhammad AuduBida, who was the Guest of Honour at the event, commended the NAF leadership for being able to execute projects nationwide while still keeping its aircraft fl ying “He said that the efforts of the CAS in creating a conducive environment for the conduct of safety courses at NAFIS is in tandem with the policy directive of the President Muhammadu Buhari, to ensure that members of the armed forces are well trained.
“He recalled that, in the past, NAF officers were usually sent overseas to attend safety courses at huge costs to the nation. He therefore praised the NAF leadership for ensuring the full establishment of NAFIS, as the nation stood to gain a lot from foreign exchange savings while still adequately providing safety training,” Adesanya said.
